Calibration

Temperature

Our temperature calibration lab is well equipped with primary reference standards, calibration baths, standard platinum resistance thermometers, resistance standards and comparators all of which are required to generate and measure temperature for a wide variety of temperature devices.

Pressure

Our pressure calibration lab is equipped with pneumatic and hydraulic dead weight testers which are backed up with weights calibrated in our mass calibration laboratory. In addition, our capability in pressure is supported by various gauges, transducers and controllers enabling us to calibrate pressure instruments within our SCC scope of accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and our NRC CLAS certification up to 20,000 psi.

Electrical

Our SCC scope of accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and NRC CLAS certified is extensive. AC and DC calibrations can be carried out in resistance, voltage, current and power. In addition, capacitance calibration is carried out by comparison to capacitance reference standards. Other equipment such as instruments used to measure thermocouple signals are calibrated by electrical simulation.

Dimensional

The dimensional measurements at Miller Instruments are all traceable to the SI (International System of Units) as required by our SCC accreditation to the quality management standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and the NRC CLAS certification. Our calibrations include gauge blocks, ring gauges, calipers, micrometers, digital indicators, dial indicators, height gauges and micrometer setting standards. Calibration of other instruments that have not been brought into our scope of accreditation are also possible.

Time and Frequency

Our rubidium atomic frequency standards enable us to support calibration work on instruments ranging from high end frequency counters down to stopwatches.

Scale and Balance

Scales and balances are both weighing instruments. The difference between the two is that a scale measures weight and is dependent on physical location while a balance measures mass and is independent of physical location. It is sometimes more economic to calibrate scales in our calibration laboratory but both scale and balance calibration can be carried out on site.

Mass

Mass is one of the fundamental units of measure and thus cannot be derived from other measures. We are able to calibrate mass from 5g to 10kg within our scope of SCC accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and NRC CLAS certification. The calibrations are carried out by direct comparison to our reference mass standards whose calibrations are traceable to the SI.

Force

Force measurements within 0 pounds force to 200 pounds force are within our SCC scope of accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and our NRC CLAS certification. We calibrate both tension and compression measuring instruments within these limits.

Torque

Torque calibrations at Miller Instruments are carried out within our SCC scope of accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and NRC CLAS certification. The measurements are carried out by direct comparison to our torque reference standards, whose calibrations are traceable to the SI. Most calibrations are completed within 3 days after authorization to proceed has been granted.
